Espau
Institutional site and clinical back office for Esperanza para el Autismo I.A.P., with minors' health data encrypted at rest.
Context
ESPAU (Esperanza para el Autismo, I.A.P.) is a nonprofit in Chihuahua dedicated to the diagnosis and therapy of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The project pairs the public institutional site with a clinical and administrative back office that runs the organization's daily work.
Architecture
The public site presents the organization's six programmes — assessment and diagnosis with ADOS-2, ADI-R and ABAS-II; individual and group therapy; a DENVER model preschool; parent guidance; and professional training — alongside donations, transparency reporting and contact.
The back office covers clinical operations: student records, therapists, schedules, weekly plans generated automatically by cron, assessments and an audit log, all under role-based access control. Minors' health data is encrypted at rest and only released inside a step-up window verified with TOTP.
Stack
- Next.js with the App Router and TypeScript; Tailwind CSS.
- PostgreSQL with typed queries (pgtyped + zql) and node-pg-migrate migrations.
- Auth.js v5 with TOTP mandatory for staff.
- Admin lists with
@pibytelabs/listkit; scheduled jobs on Vercel crons.
Technical challenges
- Protecting minors' health data: encryption at rest with release limited to a step-up TOTP window, without getting in the way of daily operations.
- Generating weekly plans automatically by cron from schedules and therapist availability.
- A complete audit log of clinical access and changes.
Outcome
A production platform (www.espau.com) that combines an institutional presence with a secure, typed clinical back office and reproducible migrations.
